Spice Girls the musical is in safe hands according to Mel C. It is being produced by Judy Craymer, the woman behind the stage and screen version of Mamma Mia.

The British girl group are hoping Judy works the same magic on their production which is in the early stages of development.

"I'm so excited," said Mel C.

"We're meeting writers at the moment. Judy Craymer is the producer who was famously successful with Mamma Mia the musical and film, so we're hoping for great things. We want our music to live on and to be enjoyed by our fans for years to come."

The mum-of-one who is currently starring in Blood Brothers in the West End, will act as a consultant along with fellow Spices Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell.

"We're not going to let it out of our hands too much," said Mel.

She added: "We want to be involved and bring the chemistry of the Spice Girls to the stage."
