For years, he was unrivaled as the reigning queen of preen, but David Beckham now has a challenger.
Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has emerged as football's latest metrosexual pin-up, unashamed of his carefully waxed chest and near obsessive attention to tanning.

Beckham, 33, paved the way for fashion with a feminine touch with his famous 1998 sarong.
A decade on the LA Galaxy star is still working hard to maintain his metrosexual mantel with his latest primped and polished Armani ads.

But the Portuguese player, who is currently in LA recovering from ankle surgery, is not easily outdone.

Beckham's fashion sense has been matched by the 23-year-old's penchant for Wham!-inspired metallic hotpants, pink tees and heavily styled tresses.

He also shares Beckham's taste in jewellery - both are known to accessorise with diamond earrings and a set of rosary beads.
Beckham, who wears his wife Posh's nail polish and underwear, has long been proud of his glamming up his appearance.

He has said: 'I'm quite sure of my feminine side, and I've not got a problem with that at all. These days it's the norm, and it should be.'
Ronaldo's extreme grooming regime does not seem to have affected his ability to attract women.
The star, who split from his model girlfriend Nereida Gallardo before going to LA, has been seen flirting with a series of bikini-clad ladies by the pool of his hotel.

He has proved popular on the nightclub scene too, with LA socialites Paris Hilton and Lauren Conrad both eagerly pursing him, but with little success.

Ted's divorce from David's mother Sandra, his attitude to Victoria, his support for Sir Alex Ferguson and the book he wrote about his famous son were said to be some of the reasons the pair drifted apart.
But when David learned of his father's heart attack he rushed 6,000 miles from LA to be with him -- and their relationship was on the mend.
A milestone was reached in March when proud Ted looked on as David won his 100th England cap, surrounded by grandsons Brooklyn, 8, Romeo, 5, and three-year-old Cruz.
A Beckham family friend yesterday told Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper, "David and his father now chat regularly on the phone."

Victoria Beckham's fashion career takes another blow as men's line is pushed back

Victoria Beckham suffered another setback today as plans to launch a men’s line of her jeans collection were put on hold after retailers were unwilling to stock it.
The former Spice Girl was set to launch the new dVb line at Kitson boutique in Los Angeles but it has now been pushed back until next year.
The delay comes just months after the denim range was relegated to the bargain basement bins of several US boutiques while many announced they would no longer carry it because of poor sales.

The mother-of-three recently spoke of her love of fashion, revealing that she would love to have a little girl to pass her clothes on to.

Chat show host Oprah Winfrey retained her position at the top spot of the list thanks to her ability to draw in 30 million viewers a week and yearly earnings of £140 million.
