Bon Jovi, Spice Girls Top Midyear Touring Chart

Bon Jovi and the Spice Girls have the two biggest American tours of 2008 so far, according to Billboard’s midyear charts.

The chart, which runs from November 2007 to May 2008, was topped by Bon Jovi – whose world tour grossed $112.4million.

The impressive figures come despite a relatively short break between the band’s current and last tour, as well as a difficult economic climate.

The Spice Girls, who reunited at the end of last year for a 47-show tour, came in second, grossing $70million.

The Police were third in the midyear countdown – and are likely to take the overall prize come the end of 2008.

The band’s world tour, which ends in Canada next month, is already the third biggest of all time, grossing $359million.

SPICE GIRLS: DVD IS OFF!

Spice Girls rule out concert DVD release

The Spice Girls have ruled out releasing a DVD recording of their comeback tour.

Fans of the group were left disappointed earlier this year when the girls cancelled plans to bring the tour to Australia, China, South Africa and Argentina.

Supporters who missed out on the chance to see the girls perform live speculated that they would be able to watch the concert on DVD instead.

However, a statement on the girls' website has now confirmed: "Sadly, there will not be a DVD release of the 47-date tour, but the girls hope you were all left with some fantastic personal memories of the show."

Geri Halliwell recently admitted that she is unlikely to reunite with the girls again. Meanwhile, Mel C has expressed relief that the tour is over.
