The credit crunch MUST be bad... Posh gets a black cab

With her multi-million pound fortune, it's hard to believe that Victoria Beckham may be feeling the effects of the credit crunch.

But it seems that the former Spice Girl may be practising some cost-cutting of her own, as she swapped her gas-guzzling Bentley for the simple pleasures of a black cab after dining at a London restaurant.

Victoria, 34, was seen in London after she arrived back in the country two days ago.

And she hopped into the cab after leaving West End restaurant Cipriani at around midnight after dining with fashion designer friends Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.

Dressed in a tight-fitting camel coloured dress, accessorised with a red Hermes handbag and perfectly coiffed hair, a serious-looking Posh eschewed her usual mode of transport for a traditional London cab.

Bizarrely, the former Spice Girl turned fashion designer was later seen sucking on her finger in the back of the cab.

Maybe she didn't quite feel satisfied after her power dinner with the Italian designers.

Meanwhile, as David prepares for his move to Milan, it's rumoured that Posh has been offered £10million by gaffe-prone Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi .

The Italian PM wants Posh to present a film charting the couples move, including their arrival, house-hunt and their first shopping trips in the European fashion capital.

Berlusconi who is currently in the midst of a storm after he described President-elect Barack Obama as 'young, handsome and tanned', is said to be 'desperate to get Posh on board and will pull out all the stops to make sure it happens.'

A source told The Daily Mirror: 'It will be similar in format to the US documentary last year but this time, the budget is absolutely huge. It will be a really polished, professional production.'

Posh recently revealed to Vogue magazine, that she and David have swapped hand-carved gold and silver Japanese talisman pendants ahead of their tenth wedding anniversary in July next year.

David, 33, already has an angel tattooed on his back and a cross on the back of his neck.

The jewellery giving ceremony comes as the couple face separation while David plays on loan for top Italian club AC Milan and Victoria stays in the US with their three children.

Making her way back to Mother England, Victoria Beckham was spotted arriving at LAX International Airport yesterday (November 3) to catch a transatlantic flight.

The former Spice Girl looked sleek as she pushed past the paparazzi in a black leather jacket, black sunglasses, black army-style hat, and a black handbag.

Speaking of the Spice Girls, it seems that Mrs. Beckham has turned down her invitation to ex-band member Melanie Brown’s lavish Egyptian wedding.

According to a report, Brown is flying her friends and family to Hurghada for a four-day bash during which she’ll be renewing her vows with husband Stephen Belafonte (she married him in Vegas last year).

Posh snubs Mel B bash

VICTORIA BECKHAM has snubbed an invitation to MEL B’s lavish Egyptian “wedding”.

Scary Spice is flying friends and family out for an all-expenses-paid trip to see her renew her vows to STEPHEN BELAFONTE, who she married in Las Vegas last year.

Posh and DAVID BECKHAM don’t plan to attend the tacky four-day bash in Hurghada.

It is not known if the other Spice Girls GERI HALLIWELL, EMMA BUNTON and pregnant MEL C will be there.

Last year the Spice Girls reunited for a lucrative three-month tour.

Despite this and the fact Mel B and Victoria both live in LA, the two rarely see each other and are not close.

Savvy Mel is rumoured to be getting £200,000 from OK! magazine for the exclusive rights to the ceremony.

These deals are all about getting your famous pals in the snaps and I’m told Mel has been inviting celebs she hardly knows to make herself look good.

Whatever happens, it’s a safe bet Mel B’s ex EDDIE MURPHY, won’t be on the guest list.

Setback for Posh in privacy battle

Victoria Beckham has failed to land a knock-out blow in her High Court privacy case against Grazia magazine over what it called a "trivial and anodyne" article.

The former Spice Girl had complained about a story over her "1am crisis talks" with husband David, which appeared in April.

But, Mr Justice Eady, in London, ruled that it was not an appropriate case for summary judgment against publishers Bauer Consumer Media Ltd without a full trial.

Hugh Tomlinson QC had argued that the item about a concerned Mrs Beckham phoning her husband when he went out in Los Angeles was private information protected by law.

"This is an article which we say trespasses into the private sphere in circumstances where there is really no proper justification."

Although there was a large volume of previously published material about the couple, it was up to Victoria Beckham to decide what information she decided to publish about herself to Grazia, he added.

Mr Tomlinson said that it was not a case about freedom of the press or freedom of expression.

It did not matter, he added, if the story was true or false but, in fact, it was made up and came from sources that were either non-existent or spinning a line.

Matthew Nicklin, for the publishers, denied breach of privacy, claiming that the story, which he described as "trivial and anodyne", was reliable and justified.

In any event, he told the judge: "Expectation of privacy depends on who you are and what you do."

Beckham to run New York Marathon?

Victoria Beckham is reportedly set to follow in her friend Katie Holmes footsteps and run the New York Marathon.

According to Contact Music the former Spice Girl has allegedly been training for the event in the Big Apple this Sunday.

Holmes completed the run in five hours, 29 minutes and 58 seconds.

Beckham is set to take on the same feat a source told Now magazine: "It was meant to be a big secret.

"She's been training for months with the main goal of running in the New York marathon. But, if she doesn't feel ready, she's planning to do the one in Los Angeles in February next year."

Beckham's husband David has reportedly been giving her fitness tips to help get the singer-turned-designer into shape.

The couple, who are already parents to sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, has put plans to expand their family on hold so Beckham can achieve her goal.

The insider added: "She wants to get the run out of the way because once she gets pregnant it'll be ages before she has the opportunity again."

Victoria Beckham likes to make and edit adverts.

The former Spice Girls star was heavily involved with the recent advertising campaign for the 'Signature' perfume she shares with her soccer star husband David.

She said: "I get really involved with the filming of things and the editing. I'm hands on. I will take every shot and pick it to pieces whereas David is a lot more easygoing - and he's the good looking one."

Victoria also defended her role in the development of the fragrance 'Beckham Signature', saying it is something she was involved in at every level of the production.

She added: "I'm not just a famous person who's put my name on something, it's not just a licensing deal. I have a lot of control over what I want to do. I go to the smells and design the packaging, and that's why it's a different form of celebrity fragrance. I don't like to be put in those categories even though I know, technically, that's what I am."

Victoria Beckham 'offered £10m TV deal'

Victoria Beckham has been offered a £10 million deal to front a documentary following her family's move to Milan, according to a report.

The Beckhams are currently making plans to live in the city on a short-term basis from January while footballer David plays for A.C. Milan.

The Mirror claims that Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi, who owns the football club as well as three TV stations, approached Posh with the deal - which would make her the highest-paid presenter in the history of Italian television.

Last year, Beckham appeared in a documentary for NBC after her family relocated to Los Angeles, but the programme had a frosty reception from critics.

"It will be similar in format to the US documentary last year but this time, the budget is absolutely huge," an insider told the newspaper. "It will be a really polished, professional production.

Although fashion pundits noted that her name was conspicuously absent from the New York schedule, fabsugar.com has confirmed that the Spice Girl will debut the new collection during fashion week, but not on the catwalk.

Instead, Posh will invite top buyers and editors to view the dresses by appointment only.

The collection of dresses is quite a departure from the dVb jeans range, and will have a decidedly upscale starting price of $1,200.

Speaking to WWD earlier this year, Victoria divulged, 'It will be something completely different from what I’ve ever done. I'm just putting it together at the moment, but they will be very upscale dresses and likely will start at around $1,200 retail. I'm going to be using very expensive fabrics and finishes, lots of embroideries.'

Victoria Beckham will walk the purple carpet when she launches her new perfume at posh Manchester, North England, store Harvey Nichols later this month.

The former Spice Girl has ordered them to roll out the violet carpets and re-rug ahead of the official launch of her fragrance.

A spokesman for Victoria said, "We do have our own purple carpet, which we will put down for the launch. That is simply because the whole theme of her new fragrance is purple.

"It makes perfect sense to launch it in an environment that blends in."

A source said, "It's the grand launch. She hasn’t even revealed the name of the perfume yet.

"We pride ourselves on being one of Britain’s trendiest stores, but we're obviously not posh enough for Posh.

"She's such a control freak we’re expecting her to lay the carpet herself."

Harvey Nichols spokesman Jessica Lowe added, "It will just be so that the carpet matches the fragrance launch."

On top of that, council sources tell Britain's Daily Star newspaper that Victoria, 34, wants city center bollards specially lowered to make sure she can reach the store more easily.

The bollards are normally only lowered for emergency response vehicles.

Victoria Beckham has reportedly been eating specialist Japanese food to combat her acne-prone skin.

The former Spice Girls star - who has three children with husband David - has been gorging on natto, made from fermented soy beans, because its vitamin PPQ content helps fix scarred skin and also increases energy levels.

A source said: "Victoria says natto tastes weird and smells a bit horrible but you only have to eat a small portion to get the benefits. She has just been having two small pots a day, sometimes with rice.

"She has been able to relax her super-strict diet and eat and drink more of what she likes, such as green tea ice-cream and her all-time favourite, champagne! David is very happy about it and Victoria has already noticed a difference - even though she has only eaten it for a couple of weeks."

Victoria is said to be "thrilled" after gaining 8lbs, especially as she and David are trying for another baby, and feels her self-esteem has improved greatly.

The source added: "Victoria's confidence is really growing. She is looking fantastic and so natural that she's comfortable being seen out in the casual Los Angeles look nowadays.

"She feels much more chilled out now and the extra pounds make her look so healthy."

And don’t be fooled by the fact that Victoria Beckham often looks as if she’s been carefully put together by a fashion and makeup army before leaving the house. It’s not so. Beckham concludes her interview by saying, “If I'm going to an event, it takes me about an hour and a half to put my hair up and have some makeup put on … I don’t have a stylist. I deal with that side of things myself."

Something tells us that it would be worthless for Victoria Beckham to have a stylist. We doubt there’s anyone out there who could surpass her style standards.

Victoria Beckham took herself off glamour duty during a family day at a Los Angeles hotel over the weekend, reclining poolside without her heels - or make-up.

The former Spice Girl, who is rarely seen in public without a full face of foundation, let her guard down while relaxing with her mother Jackie and son Romeo.

But her au naturel look, complete with pinned back hair, revealed her problem skin, which looked both blotchy and riddled with pimples.

Cosmetic dermatologist Dr Aamer Khan said: 'Posh has had dreadful acne. The discoloration of her skin is partly due to this and sun damage. '

Victoria recently admitted she has to work hard to look red carpet-ready.

She told Allure magazine: 'As you can see, I’m a normal-looking girl, and I just make the best of what I have.

'I’m not out-of-the-ordinary-looking at all – I’m incredibly ordinary.'

And without a hint of irony, she also claimed she doesn't like being the centre of attention and that in fact, she's actually uncomfortable in the spotlight.

She insisted: 'I'm not the kind of person that stands there and loves the attention.'

'It might look that way, but it makes me very, very nervous.'

Victoria Beckham claims that heels help her concentrate on higher things.
But in these five-inch stilettos, it seems she needed all her brain power just to stay upright.
The 34-year-old looked to be struggling to walk in her orange Christian Louboutin creations.
The long, thin, gold-painted heels offered little in the way of support - even for Posh Spice's tiny frame.
Mrs Beckham was pictured arriving at the exclusive Los Angeles restaurant Beso wearing a classic strapless black dress and the £320 shoes.
She had dinner alongside actress Eva Longoria, but husband David was otherwise engaged.
Fashion expert Karen Kay said: 'There is a kinky element to this shoe. Victoria is trying to look sexy by teaming them with the black dress with a long zip up the back. She falls short though because the hanger ribbons are falling out over the dress. Overall it is quite a severe look but that suits her - you can imagine Victoria as a dominatrix in this outfit.
'There is a bit of an Eighties revival at the moment and the shape, colour and the style of the shoe reflects that.'
Mrs Beckham is of course far from the first celebrity to opt for this type of look.
Earlier this year Gwyneth Paltrow appeared in seven different pairs of stilettos in just four days as she promoted her latest film.
Shoe shops praised the 'Gwyneth Effect' after they reported a surge in customer interest in heels as tall as seven inches.
Selfridges reported a 35 per cent increase in sales of super high heels and said they were outselling flats by a ratio of five to one.
Mrs Beckham revealed earlier this year that she felt that wearing high heels boosted her brain power, because she simply could not concentrate in flat shoes.
She added that she avoided working out because she could not bear to be in trainers.
'I'd love to go to the gym, but I just can't get my head around the footwear.' And it appears Eva Longoria is taking more than just hairstyle advice from best friend Mrs Beckham.

David Beckham Gives His Dad a Job

David Beckham has given his dad a job.
The LA Galaxy soccer stud has employed Ted Beckham to help out at his British soccer academy. He will stand in for his son to hand out prizes to kids at the coaching school in London.
David and Ted, 60, had become estranged -- but the rift was healed last year when David flew in from Los Angeles to be at his bedside after gas-fitter Ted nearly died of a heart attack.
Ted's divorce from David's mother Sandra, his attitude to Victoria, his support for Sir Alex Ferguson and the book he wrote about his famous son were said to be some of the reasons the pair drifted apart.
But when David learned of his father's heart attack he rushed 6,000 miles from LA to be with him -- and their relationship was on the mend.
A milestone was reached in March when proud Ted looked on as David won his 100th England cap, surrounded by grandsons Brooklyn, 8, Romeo, 5, and three-year-old Cruz.
A Beckham family friend yesterday told Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper, "David and his father now chat regularly on the phone."
