Who else is better to inject a little Spice into the BRIT Awards 2010 than the delectable Mel B?

Now Mrs Belafonte after getting hitched to movie producer Stephen in 2007, Mel is known as being someone not afraid to hold back, and should share some northern chemistry with fellow host Peter Kay.

She’s became a star as part of the Spice Girls, who became the best-selling and most successful girl group of all time, releasing two multi-platinum albums, Spice and Spiceworld, with estimated combined album sales of 55 million copies worldwide.

They also scored six consecutive UK number one hits, and appeared in their own motion picture and video game as well as plenty of big-money commercials.

As the 90s drew to an end Scary Spice then concentrated on her own solo music career, working with the likes of Missy Elliot, though as with the other members of her group she didn’t find much chart success branching out on her own.

She moved onto other projects, and in September 2007 joined the fifth season of the huge US show Dancing with the Stars. She was part of the highest-scoring couple during the season and made it to the finals.

And next on her career path after the BRIT Awards? Well, it’s been rumoured she may take over from Dannii Minogue as host of The X Factor, where Simon Cowell apparently thinks she could shake things up a bit.

An insider told The Mirror: “Simon thinks Mel could be brilliant as she is outspoken, down-to-earth and won’t hold back.

“There were times during the current series that he felt things were a bit boring and he is certain sparks will fly with her on board.”
