Emma Bunton made a seriously ill girl's dreams come true by inviting her to meet the 'Dancing On Ice' team.

The show judge telephoned 14-year-old Rebecca from Bristol - who suffers from leukaemia - to offer her the chance to visit the show and meet ice-skating legends and mentors Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean as part of the 'Have A Heart Appeal' by radio station Heart FM.

She said: "I've got some news which I hope you will be excited about. We know you've had to spend a lot of time in hospital and think you deserve something very special.

"You contacted Starlight Children's Foundation and made a wish recently didn't you? I'm ringing to tell you that Torvill and Dean would like to invite you to come down to ITV to this series of 'Dancing On Ice' to meet them, and to watch the live show afterwards! How does that sound?"

Rebecca - also known as Becky - excitedly replied: "That's brilliant! Thank you! That's really good!"

After the call, the former Spice Girl said: "We've granted our first wish! Bless Becky, I think she was a bit gobsmacked."

Becky's mother Julie told Emma and show presenter Toby Anstis her daughter was thrilled.

She said: "I wish I had had a camera - I could show everyone the look on Becky's face. She couldn't really talk because she was grinning so much."

The 'Have A Heart Appeal' takes place from March 15 to 19 in support of the Starlight Children's Foundation charity, which provides year-round entertainment to thousands of children in hospitals and hospices across the country.
