Spice Girls set to reunite for movie sequel called Viva Forever, Emma Bunton reveals

The Spice Girls are making a sequel to their 1997 film Spice World, Emma Bunton has revealed.

The 34-year-old singer said that despite the first movie being panned by critics, she, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Mel B and Mel C are all excited about the follow-up.

And they have even enlisted the help of Mamma Mia! director Judy Cramer, who is also helping make the band's songs into a West End musical, to ensure the new film is more of a success than the last.

Emma said: 'Now we're all involved in the new Spice Girls film, which is being done by Judy Craymer and the team behind Mamma Mia!

'We email each other ideas and we are overjoyed it's happening.'

The musical film - expected to be called Viva Forever - will feature Spice Girls songs such as Wannabe, 2 Become 1, Who Do You Think Are? and Say You'll Be There, and will be made in the same mould as the 2008 Oscar-winning adaptation of Mamma Mia!.

Mother-of-one Emma also revealed the girls were planning to do the sequel immediately after the release of Spice World but plans were put on ice when Geri Halliwell left the band.

She told the Sunday Mirror's Celebs on Sunday magazine: 'We would've liked to do another film, but after Spice World, there was an album, then a tour and then Geri left, so it didn't happen.'

The movie is set to be a film adaptation of the band's highly anticipated musical - also called Viva Forever.

In November, the show will debut in the West End.

The musical was penned by Kim Fuller - the sister of music mogul Simon Fuller - who also wrote the screenplay for 1997 movie Spice World, and willfeature 14 of the girls' biggest hits from their heyday in the Nineties.

The Spice Girls will hope the new film is a better success than Spice World, which despite making over £40million at box offices worldwide was mauled by critics.
