DIY Spice: Geri Halliwell abandons glamour for shopping trip to Homebase

Geri Halliwell took time out from being a celebrity to indulge in a far less glamorous activity - a spot of DIY.

The Spice Girl was pictured shopping for plants at Homebase with daughter Bluebell Madonna and a friend.

The singer opted for the casual look in oversized boyfriend jeans, trainers and a khaki parka as she made her way through the North London store.

But with a mobile phone clamped to her ear and a pair of sunglasses covering her face, the fiery redhead still couldn't quite shake off her celebrity status.

The distracted star appeared to spend most of her time on the phone while she picked out a few bedding plants from the shelves.

Luckily for the yummy mummy, two-year-old Bluebell entertained herself with a bright pink watering can she was happy play with.

Geri picked out a trowel and looked excited to be planting sunflowers seeds and colourful plants back at home.

The 36-year-old recently found love again with London aristocrat Henry Beckwith after breaking off her engagement to yacht tycoon Fabrizio Politi.

Since giving birth in May 2006, Geri has had a series of short relationships, but is yet to find Mr Right.

Her longest was her six -month relationship with American dancer Ivan 'Flipz' Velez, who she met on the Spice Girls reunion tour.

The pair enjoyed a transatlantic romance, visiting each other in Los Angeles and London.

After splitting with Velez last November, Geri was romantically linked to London nightclub owner Nick House before meeting ex-fiance Fabrizio in a nightclub in Florence, Italy last December.

Within weeks, the couple had announced their engagement and Fabrizo was spotted cuddling Geri's toddler, but by early March, their relationship was over.

The singer was first spotted with Henry - a cousin of socialite Tamara Beckwith - last month, just ten days after announcing her split from Italian Fabrizio.

The couple had their first date at Scott's restaurant in Mayfair before spending five hours in deep conversation at Raffles on March 20.
