Geri's not coping well with her love split
Unlucky-in-love Geri Halliwell is trying to look perky after ditching her Italian shipping tycoon fiancé Fabrizio Politi after only three months, but it's a struggle.
According to a source, the 36-year-old is embarrassed about the split and is worried that time is running out for her to find Mr Right.
‘Geri thinks people feel she’s a bit erratic and immature,’ says our source. ‘It’s typical Geri. She can be quite impulsive and is known to act before thinking – it’s her charm and her vice.
‘She’s been a bit of a commitment phobe over the years because it’s hard for her to find a man who can handle her idiosyncrasies, but she does desperately want a relationship and a father figure for two-year-old Bluebell.
‘All her friends knew Fabrizio wasn’t her type. At least she had the good sense to pull the plug before things went too far, but it’s still embarrassing and stressful for her and she wishes the whole thing would just disappear.’
Geri met Fabrizio, 34, in a nightclub in Florence in December and over Christmas he asked her to marry him. Friends had told Now that a split would be imminent because Geri was too high-maintenance, self-involved and difficult and it was thought that her rushing into her engagement was ‘childlike and desperate’.
But it seems poor Fabrizio was up for the challenge. Just days before being dumped, he talked about how Geri has ‘changed his life’. He said: ‘I work like a madman, but now I have a sweet something extra to think about. Geri conquered me because she made me laugh, talk and open up.’
Not any more.
