Victoria Beckham's designs were lapped up by critics |
Victoria Beckham's unveiling of her second fashion collection at New York Fashion Week has been described as a great success.
The former Spice Girl showcased 23 tailored designs from her Spring/Summer 09 collection on Sunday night.
Unlike her last collection the new designs were modest with high necklines and no cut-outs.
Victoria, wearing a pewter silk dress from the collection, said: "This time, we have made the corset as a separate item. It's sexy - from a woman's perspective."
Despite wearing many a skimpy outfit in the past, Victoria branded too much cleavage "vulgar".
The 34-year-old celebrity is believed to have had Cheryl Cole's recent comments in mind as she repeatedly described the collection as "young". The Girls Aloud star told Vogue she felt Posh's designs were aimed at older women.
Victoria did make one boob, describing a strapless grey cashmere dress as "very Mad Max". Her press officer interrupted, "Don't you mean very Mad Men?" referring to the hit 50s inspired TV series. Victoria laughed: "Yes, I haven't seen it yet. I must get the DVD."
Lisa Haynes, The Press Association's Fashion Editor commented: "Posh's mark II collection proves she can design dresses as well as pout in them. Mrs Beckham's obviously been busy with her designer pencil to move the collection on for its second season.
"Victoria may not have had much success in her solo singing career but this collection is full of red carpet smash hits."
The collection ranges in price from £900 to £5,000.
