Posh's designer demin faces the sack

Victoria Beckham
Gutted: Posh at Armani party in New York this week

Victoria Beckham's demin range has been dropped by one of New York's flashest department stores, it has emerged.

The fall out is terrible timing for Posh, in the week she bid to carve herself out as a serious player on the couture design scene after she unveiled her new frocks during the city's fashion week.

But now insiders at SAKS Fifth Avenue say the price tag of her jeans didn't match her reputation.

Nobody wanted to buy $300 jeans from someone who is not a trained designer' a store source told the New York Post.

It's the second time Beckham's booty-hugging jeans have been given the cold shoulder State-side after fashionable LA store Kitson dropped the range last year because of 'poor sales'.

But a close source tells us, the SAKs store is suffering from 'sour grapes' after Posh teamed up exclusively with Bergdorf Goodman to sell her well received dress collection.

A Beckham friend defended the designer, telling: 'The real reason SAKs dropped the denim range is because she chose Bergdorf Goodman with the dress collection so it was sadly a case of sour grapes!'

The denim blow comes after Beckham, 34, received positive praise to her collection of dresses unveiled in a hotel suite this week.

A spokesperson for Beckham said: 'At this time there is no Victoria Beckham product stocked at Saks, but we continue to work closely with several leading stores and many independent US fashion retailers.'
