Mountainous Mel C can't stop smiling as she prepares to welcome new baby... who might share her birthday

The serene smile which plays around her glowing features says it all - Melanie Chisholm can't wait to become a mother.

Pregnancy and the impending birth of her first child appears to have softened the former Spice Girl.

At the peak of her fame Mel C was nicknamed Sporty Spice for her fondness for tracksuits and high kicking dance routines.

But with her glossy hair and figure flattering clinging black dress by Isabella Oliver Maternity Wear a smiling Mel was transformed.

And despite her advanced stage of pregnancy she joined a host of stars on stage at the Celebration of the Bee Gees at Battersea Evolution in London this weekend.

A delighted Lulu put a protective hand onto Mel's stomach as the two dueted and belted out Bee Gee tracks.

The brunette singer, who turns 35 today, is thought to be due to give birth early any day now - meaning her child could share her birthday.

'I don't know and I don't want to know,' she said in an interview earlier this year. 'In the end I do, obviously.'

As well as welcoming her first child, she is rumoured to be planning to marry her long-term partner Thomas Starr.

The couple, who live a quiet life together in Wales, reportedly got engaged in September.

The invitations have been printed and they have told friends and family to prepare for a spring wedding.
