Geri Halliwell is a real Sporty Spice as she enjoys a spot of waterskiing in Sardinia

During her days in the Spice Girls, Geri Halliwell was known as the less impressively monikered 'Ginger Spice' while Melanie Chisholm was called 'Sporty Spice.

But as she holidays in Sardinia with her boyfriend Henry Beckwith, perhaps it should be Geri claiming the Sporty Spice nickname given her impressive waterskiing.

The mother-of-one, 38, managed to stay upright as she rode the waves off the coast of Porto Cervo, before eventually crashing into the Mediterranean sea.

Wearing a pink bikini from her own Next range, Halliwell looked determined as she hung onto the cable as she pulled along by a speedboat.

Her boyfriend Henry Beckwith, 32, captured the water fun on a video camera as she whizzed through the sea.

Then it was time for the aristocrat to have a go while Halliwell took charge of the camera.

The couple's waterskiing session came a day after they were pulled along on an inflatable device.

Halliwell and Crouch arrived in the Sardinian resort of Porto Cervo last week and are staying in the same luxury hotel where newlyweds Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy enjoyed a pre-wedding holiday there last month.

The Crouches are annual visitors to the resort, while Halliwell previously visited with Beckwith two years ago.

Although she's only just arrived on the Italian island, Halliwell has already acquired a deep tan after spending three weeks on the French Riviera last month.

Although four-year-old daughter Bluebell was nowhere to be seen on this holiday, she did accompany her famous mother to St Tropez last month.

Her romantic holiday to Sardinia is Halliwell's fourth holiday this year.

In February, she and Beckwith enjoyed a winter break in Miami and in January enjoyed a spot of snowboarding in the French Alps.

Last autumn she also travelled to Florida twice, but also got a bit of work in when she shot the promotional shots for the Next bikini range.

Halliwell has been dating Beckwith - cousin of socialite Tamara Beckwith since March 2009 - just days after Geri ended her brief engagement to Italian yacht tycoon Fabrizio Politi.

Geri has described Henry as an 'Alpha male' personality and claims this is the reason why the pair have stayed together for so long.

In a recent interview with the Mail, she admitted she had been wearing a bikini when she first met.

While Halliwell is evidently happy, she has played down any speculation of them living together or getting engaged.

She said: 'It takes a hell of a strong man to be with someone like me. I think he has a strong enough sense of self, but what I love about him is that he loves me for me. He doesn’t buy into any of the image. He finds it amusing and fun, but he’s not intoxicated by it.'
