Victoria Beckham has reportedly banned the use of size zero models in her upcoming show at New York Fashion Week.

According to The Mirror, the singer and designer wants to use "realistic and healthy-looking" models to send a positive message to her fans.

Beckham apparently refused to see at least 12 models at a recent casting because they were too skinny.

A source said: "Victoria takes her role as a figure in the public eye very seriously, and is well aware young girls look up to her. This is why she gets so angry when people claim she doesn't eat properly - she does.

"She has three young boys to run around after, and a business empire to expand, so of course she needs to look after herself.

"Her forthcoming Spring 2011 collection showcase is a massive deal and a real honour. She was determined to use healthy looking models though, and insisted no-one was smaller than a size four to six. The main thing, though, was that the models looked at the right weight for them, not underfed.

"While none of the designers at NY Fashion Week get to hand-pick all their girls, they can put in requests of a few they definitely do and don't want. Victoria is really excited to be one of the big draws at Fashion Week."
