LOUIS WALSH: GERI HALLIWELL DOESN’T HAVE THE X FACTOR

LOUIS Walsh has never shied away from speaking his mind and Geri Halliwell is the latest star to feel the lash of his tongue.

With X Factor judge Dannii Minogue on maternity leave, the Spice Girl was one of a string of celebrity guests to fill her seat on the latest series of the show.

At the Glasgow auditions, Geri, 37, joined Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole – shortly before Cheryl was struck down with malaria – but failed to win over hard-to-please Louis.

“All I can say is, Geri who?” Louis tells Star magazine. “I mean what does she know about the music business? She got the most boos from the crowd too.”

Ironically Geri’s role as a judge on X Factor’s predecessor Popstars: The Rivals means she played a part in Cheryl’s big break in 2002, when Cheryl was chosen to be in Girls Aloud through the public vote.

Twisting the knife even further, Louis, 57, is full of praise for the other guest judges. “I thought Nicole [Scherzinger] from the Pussycat Dolls was absolutely brilliant when she stood in,” he said.

“I liked Natalie Imbruglia, and Katy Perry was great fun.”

Even his frosty relationship with Dannii, who gave birth to Ethan this month, has thawed considerably, he says.

The source of the tension, he explains, was his loyalty to former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne, who clashed with Dannii, 38, when she arrived on the show.

“We get on much better now than we used to. Everyone knows we didn’t see eye to eye for a couple of years and that’s because Sharon Osbourne is one of my best friends and you were in one camp or the other. I’m warming to Dannii now.”

But he admits the X Factor set is still far from all sweetness and light. “It’s been tense this year,” he said.

“There’s a rivalry among the judges and there have been a few rows. It gets competitive and people seeing this year’s show will see plenty of drama and arguments.”

On Cheryl’s battle with malaria, he assures fans: “She will be back looking better than ever. Nobody will be able to keep her away from X Factor – she loves it.”
