Representatives for David and Victoria Beckham have reportedly denied claims that the couple are about to announce their separation.

It had been suggested in a variety of online reports that the pair would announce a split this afternoon.

Frank PR managing director Andrew Bloch had previously posted on Twitter: "I am hearing from a number of sources that Victoria and David Beckham are due to announce their separation in a few hours."

However, minutes later he added: "I have confirmation direct from Team Beckham that the separation rumour is 'utter nonsense'. Very good news indeed."

Freelance writer Simon Ward also claimed to have contacted representatives for both stars and wrote on Twitter that they had denied the reports.

Ward said: "I have just spoken to Victoria Beckham's PR and she has told me that it is all utter rubbish. No announcement and no separation!

"David Beckham's PR has also confirmed that the split rumour is utter rubbish. No announcement and no separation. Gotta love a Twitter rumour!"

The former England football captain and ex-Spice Girl wed in July 1999 and have three children together - Brooklyn Joseph, 11, Romeo James, 7, and Cruz David, 5.

In May, Victoria defended the strength of her marriage, denied any claims that David had cheated on her and described him as "the most faithful husband I could hope for".
