Melanie Chisolm has dismissed rumours of another Spice Girls reunion saying: "There’s nothing on the cards at all."

The chart-topping girl band were reported to be getting back together after Mel B, Mel C, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton were recently photographed on a night out in London - minus Victoria Beckham, however.

But talking on GMTV this morning, Mel laughed off the rumours and joked: "Oh yeah, we always meet in very public places to discuss very private matters."

She explained instead there was quite a simple reason for their get together.

She elaborated: "The thing is, Melanie was in town, Geri was around, Me and Emma are often here, and we just thought let’s get together, have a girly night."

"I’m in the West End now for six months. Everyone’s busy, Emma’s doing her radio show, of course Victoria’s doing all her fashion line – so everyone’s busy now. Geri’s always busy."

Mel also talked about becoming a mum for the first time.

She gave birth to Scarlett in February and said it had been a "real shock to the system".

She said: "It’s everything everybody says. It’s wonderful, incredible and very difficult. But, you know, all the great things outweigh all the tough bits. I just think the early days. It’s so exhausting, it’s really, really hard work."

Talking about her West End debut in the musical Blood Brothers meanwhile, Mel said treading the boards is harder than her time in the Spice Girls.

She revealed: "After having a child, this is the biggest challenge of my life. It’s the biggest professional challenge of my life."
