And apparently that’s why she never smiles too – and there we were thinking it was because she’d perfected her model-like pout for the cameras. No, it’s actually because one of the most famous media-loving women in the world is as shy as a church mouse.

“I do have my insecurities. Maybe that is why I look a little bit serious,” (A LITTLE?!). “The kind of person who’s going to stand on the red carpet and love the attention and have the big grin – I’m just not like that,” she told US Elle magazine, probably while coyly hiding behind her hand and giggling nervously.

Ah, so that’s why she dabbled in modelling as a teen, joined the Spice Girls, launched her own clothing line, married a famous footballer, appeared semi-naked on a billboard etc etc.

It’s got nothing to do with the fact she’s always hated her teeth, despite spending thousands of pounds and dollars having them perfected by a really really expensive dentist.

So, here she is hiding her insecurities on the cover of US Elle magazine, on a diving board, with the pout, showing her arse, just like timid girls do.
