Victoria Beckham struggles up the stairs in her super tight dress and killer heels

She's long been known for her impractical dress sense, but Victoria Beckham appeared to concede defeat on a shopping trip in Los Angeles yesterday.

The always glamorous Spice Girl struggled up the stairs in a figure-hugging black dress from her fashion range and $650 Miu Miu midnight blue heels as she visited Barney's department store with her sister Louise.

As she wiggled up the stairs in the restrictive shift, the mother-of-three fiddled with her zip on the back to give her better ease of movement.

The 35-year-old spent an hour trying on shoes at Barney's shoe department in The Grove shopping mall.

But as she prepared to leave empty-handed, she found it a struggle to navigate the steep stairs.

Her sleek Sanson dress is from the new autumn/winter season from her Victoria Beckham Collection.

Her smart black outfit, which she teamed with a £1,500 quilted Chanel handbag, looked better suited to the office than to a shopping trip.

The dress was just the latest in a string of outfits Victoria has worn with a prominent zip.

Last week, she was spotted flying from Los Angeles to London in a cream trilby with a bulky gold zip across the crown.

Several of her new designs from her Victoria Beckham Collection include obvious zips on the backs.

Meanwhile, Victoria has landed a second primetime TV role in America after her recent stint as a guest judge on American Idol.

She has been asked as a guest panellist on The View - the U.S. version of Loose Women - on September 14.

Victoria is just one of a host of celebrities standing in while regular host Elisabeth Hasselbeck is on maternity leave.

She will join broadcasting veteran Barbara Walters and actress Whoopi Goldberg on the panel.
