Posh and Becks delighted David's mum when they appeared as surprise guests at her 60th birthday dinner.

The couple - and their three sons - sneaked in through the kitchens of the restaurant near Sandra Beckham's home in Essex.

And everything was all going so smoothly until it came to time to leave... and David's minder crashed into his car.

David and Victoria - who are due to fly to the Seychelles tomorrow for their 10th wedding anniversary - joined 60 other guests at the Blue Bridge restaurant in Writtle, near Chelmsford.

With sons Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, six, and four-year-old Cruz, they sat down to a £20-a-head threecourse set menu.

A source at the restaurant said: "They crept in through the back so they could surprise the birthday girl. There were gasps of delight when they walked in with a lot of hugs and kisses.

"After the meal David gave a speech about his mum. It was just like any other family birthday party. Their children were running around with all the other kids."

But as news of their arrival on Friday evening spread, a crowd of fans gathered and police were called to escort the family.

Then, as David tried to drive away in the family's black Range Rover, he braked hard... and his minder shunted into him.

An onlooker said: "There was the sound of metal crunching... although there wasn't really any damage and both cars drove off."

The Beckhams visited Sandra again yesterday and David drove to a flower shop in Epping so Brooklyn could buy a bouquet for his gran. Tomorrow David and Victoria will leave the boys at home to fly out to the Seychelles to celebrate their July 4 anniversary.

The couple - who have spent most of the last five months living apart - have booked an entire fivestar resort for the 10-day break.
