Former SPICE GIRLS star MELANIE BROWN is determined not to let her children grow up to be rich and spoiled - she limits their pocket money and forces them to do housework.
The singer has two children, Phoenix, 10, from her marriage to dancer Jimmy Gulzar, and Angel, two, from a relationship with actor Eddie Murphy, and the British-born star, who now lives with second husband Stephen Belafonte in Los Angeles, is keen to make sure her kids have a strict upbringing.
She tells Closer magazine, "Phoenix has chores to do and I make sure Angel tidies up after herself. I want them to learn responsibility early.
"My kids are loved - but not spoiled. They won't end up being Hollywood children, down the shops using mum's credit card. I've just got Phoenix her first pay-as-you-go (cell) phone, so if she does her chores and is good, she gets pocket money, so she can afford to top it up."
But Brown admits she worries that her eldest daughter will not always be such a model child.
She adds, "I'm sure I'm going to get some kind of payback when Phoenix turns into a teenager. If she's anything like I was, then I'll be in for quite a ride - I was a big handful."
