Victoria Beckham 'Riled' at Mel B's Stateside Success

Victoria Beckham is said to be 'riled' that her former Spice Girls bandmate Mel B is having more success in America than she is.

Beckham, 34, has failed to win the hearts of middle America with her unapproachable demeanor and is looking for ways to appeal to the average American.

A source reveals, "It riles Posh that Mel B's more popular than her. That's not only because of Dancing With The Stars and her new reality show The Singing Office, but because Mel's more 'real'.

"She's had the Eddie Murphy heartache and is seen as being more approachable -- and that's exactly what Victoria needs to try to to become now."

Victoria's bid to appear more 'normal' will coincide with major launches for her fashion range dVb, including a new set of jeans and upmarket dresses. She will launch them at New York Fashion Week in September.

In-line with the pouting former singer's new masterplan, Victoria was spotted buying bread at the Farmers Market in Los Angeles on June 15, and eight days later the entire Beckham clan visited San Francisco's Alcatraz prison -- where they shunned VIP treatment to queue like everyone else.

And her new attitude appears to be working. One major gossip critic tells Britian's Now Magazine, "I just love it when the Beckhams partake in very 'touristy' outings like this. When they're home in LA, the family goes about their days just like regular Angelenos, with trips to the Pin Taco at Century City; The Grove; and TGI Friday's in Woodland hills, showing that they enjoy the same things as regular folk. It's cute. This is a side of the family that I love to see. The normal side."
